I was just reminded of this month-old New Yorker article about HBO’s “The Wire,” seeing an ad for the fifth (and final) season on some web site. I’ve only seen the first two seasons, but man, they’re incredible. The Wire portrays political, criminal, and journalistic life in modern Baltimore, MD in a way that is gritty, compelling, and ultimately authentic. A long read, but worth it.

Criminals agree, The Wire gets it pretty spot-on. I actually didn’t read all of this, as it had season premier spoilers, but the intro is interesting.
